FIRA (Federation of International RoboSports Association) is the world's oldest and one of the most influential international organizations dedicated to robot sports and intelligent robotics. Founded in 1996 by Prof. Jong-Hwan Kim at KAIST, Korea, FIRA has spent nearly three decades using competitive robotics as a benchmark for advancing research in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. Its flagship event, the FIRA RoboWorld Cup, is held annually in different countries, alongside specialized competitions such as FIRA Air (autonomous flying robots), FIRA Challenge (robotics for societal benefit), and FIRA Youth (for the next generation of researchers). Operating through regional branches such as FIRA Eurasia, FIRA organizes competitions, educational programs, and summits across the globe, uniting universities, students, and professionals to promote innovation in robotics, AI, and STEAM education.
